New York University, New York
Biography The focus of my research has been to study biomarkers of plasticity and, to search for and develop new therapies to ameliorate symptoms of degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease that compromise daily functioning and quality of life. My most recent research focus is non-invasive brain stimulation therapies, and I am conducting several trials using transcranial direct current stimulation and transcranial magnetic stimulation for rehabilitation of Parkinson’s disease. I am a Neurologist trained in Argentina; I have completed two Post-Doc Research Fellowships and the NYU School of medicine. The first one investigating Alzheimer’s disease and other dementing disorders with a focus on biomarkers (especially CSF) and sleep disorders inthe NYU Psychiatry Department. The second one, focused on biomarkers of cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease and neurophysiology, motor control and motor learning at NYU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center in the Neurology Department. Currently I am Research Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Neurophysiology laboratory of non-invasive brain stimulation at the NYU Fresco Institute for Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder. Research Interest Rehabilitation, Neuroplascticity and Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation, Clinical research in movement disorders

Translational Research Center for Medical Innovation, Japan
Biography Takashi Kikuchi is a unique medical scientist because two doctoral degrees in medical science (Nagoya University, Japan) and statistics (University of Oxford) were awarded to him. He studied Ret oncogene at Aichi cancer institute in Nagoya, Japan with Dr. Takahashi who founded the gene. After he obtained a doctoral degree in medicine, he continued basic research on P53 oncogene for several years in Nichirei Corporation but changed the job from the basic research to clinical trials. During the duties of a pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk, he recognized the importance of statistics and resigned the company to study statistics in Australia and UK. In Australia, he studied medical statistics in the University of Newcastle. Then he moved to the University of Oxford as a doctoral student; he developed a novel statistical methodology to define the optimal sample size considering the cost-benefit of the clinical trial. Professor John Gittins supervised his doctoral research. After he returned to Japan, as an expert statistician, he joined Translational Research Center for Medical Innovation to take an important role in clinical trials on study design, statistical analysis, and reporting. He is interested in developing a new methodology to measure the severity of Alzheimer’s disease and discovered a novel assessment algorithm, three-dimensional distance (TDD) for ABC dementia scale. He is an expert in Bayesian statistics. Research Interest Bayesian statistics and the development of a novel methodologies for the assessment of Alzheimer’s disease | ![]() |
