Biography Dr. Sherif Sultan boasts over twenty six years of vascular experience. Upon obtaining his medical degree from the Ain Shams University in 1987, he was first specialized in general and vascular surgery where he completed a master degree in surgery in 1991, then worked solely in vascular surgery. He had his MD and awarded his FRCS in Dublin 1995. He was awarded the American board of Anti Aging and Regenerative Medicine in Florida. He established strong international reputation with 80 peer-reviewed papers, 350 publications, 7 book chapters, more than 240 abstracts, in excess of 400 international presentations, and over 270 national presentations. His prolific research portfolio has been recognized by 30 international awards. Recently the National Institute of Health in the USA cited his seminal publication on the cost-effectiveness of endovascular aortic repair as one of the most ground-breaking publications in this field in the last decade. In 2002 Dr. Sultan founded the Western Vascular Institute, a charitable research foundation committed to vascular research, technical innovation, professional and public education. He was elected as the chairman. He is a distinguished Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and President of the American Society of Angiology, Irish chapter. Dr. Giustino Varrassi graduated in Medicine at Roma (Italy). He started the academic career at the same University, in the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. Three years later he moved to the University of L’Aquila (Italy), where in 1985 he became Chairman of the Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Department. At the end of 2010, he was called as General Manager of a public company, part of the national Health Care Service. For this reason, in 2011 he left the University, as Full Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Biography Dr. Jian Guo Cui was a neurosurgeon for 12 years as a carrier start. In 1993, he went to Karolinska Hospital for learning stereotaxic and functional neurosurgery under the supervision of Dr. & Prof. Bjorn Meyerson and Dr. & Prof. Bengt Linderoth (Dr. Lekcell, a founder of stereotaxic and functional neurosurgery, was in Karolinska Hospital). Eventually, he stepped into research field. He had published more than 60 original papers in various prestigious journals, such as the Journal of Neuroscience, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Pain, etc. His paper “spinalcord stimulation attenuates augmented dorsal horn release of excitatory amino acids in mono neuropathy via a GABA ergic mechanism” published in Pain (1997; 73: 87-95) was selected into Mosby Year Book in 1999. Following an Obstetrical Anesthesiology fellowship at Northwestern University she accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado, Denver, where she currently practices. Biography Dr. Luiz Eduardo Imbelloni is an associate director of the Regional Anesthesia Institute and a Professor at the School of Medicine, Faculdade de Medicina Nova Esperança. He pursued his Ph.D in Anesthesiology from Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho, UNESP, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He earned the title of Professor Etranger, Universite Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France, in 1981. He is a pioneer in the use of spinal anesthesia for laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Brazil and is at present active in clinical trials for spinal anesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks. After receiving a full scholarship to study in the United States, he studied for a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology at Georgetown University and entered the National Institute of Health for research in the Human Genetics Program. In 1998, Dr. Hong passed the American Medical Licensing Examination and began to train inpatient anesthesia. He was subsequently certified by the American Society of Anesthesiology and entered the large general hospital Geisinger Medical Centre as the attending physician. Dr. Hong is a member of the American Association of Advanced Experts in Cardiac Ultrasound and is interested in the exploration and research of the frontier issues of cardiac anesthesia. Biography Dr. Yumul has been an Anesthesiologist for 17 years. My role in clinical and didactic teaching is very important to me. I enjoy teaching at all levels - anesthesiology fellows, residents, medical students, and undergraduate students.
