Biography Dr. Nikolaoss Malliaropoulos is a Consultant Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician. He is a Consulatnt in Sports and Exercise Medicne at Barts and The London NHS Trust and Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London Sports Medicine Academic Department. He has been the Director of the Sports injuries clinic of Track and Field Hellenic Association in Thessaloniki, since 1986 and was Chief Medical Officer of the Hellenic Olympic Team XXVIII, Athens Olympics 2004. Additionally, Nikos was the Director of the Medical Services of the First South Eastern European Games 2007.
He is a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Sports and Exercise medicine Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. He is a Founding member of the European College of Sports and Exercise Physicians – ECOSEP, a Fellow of the International Federation of Sports Medicine FIMS, a Member of the British Sports and Exercise medicine Association-BASEM. Biography Dr. Eric Magrum is currently a senior Physical Therapist at the University of Virginia/HealthSouth Outpatient Sports Medicine Center; and Director of the UVA/HealthSouth APTA accredited Orthopaedic Residency Program. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010 from Virginia Commonwealth Universityand graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1994, and went on to complete an Orthopedic Manual Therapy Fellowship program earning a full fellowship in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists. Eric is also board certified through the APTA as an Orthopedic Specialist. Eric is a developer, primary instructor, and mentor for the UVA/HealthSouth Orthopedic Residency Program. He is also the program director for the Virginia Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Institute, teaching courses throughout the region in the field of Manual Physical Therapy. His research works have grants from Orthopedic Section Grant, American Physical Therapy Association. He is involved locally, regionally, and nationally in teaching and research in the fields of lower quarter biomechanics; running injuries, orthotic management, manual therapy as well as spinal evaluation and management. Biography Dr. Eszter Volgyi obtained her M.Sc. With two majors, Physical Education and Health, in 2004 and a B.S. in Recretion in 2005 from Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary. As a PI she carried out a longitudinal study on biological maturation, body composition and psychological functions in Hungarian teenage girls between 2004 and 2007. She graduated with a Ph.D. In Educational and Sport Sciences from Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary in 2008. She moved to Finland in 2006 and extended her research area in body composition and physical activity with a special focus on the effect of long-term leisure-time physical activity on bone, fat and muscle gain in girls. She completed her second Ph.D. In Health Sciences majoring in Sports Medicine in 2010 at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. For her research, she received numerous national and international student and young investigator awards. Recently, she finished a 2-year postdoctoral training where she was focusing on applying statistics to analyze longitudinal data and learning neuroimaging. She is currently an assistant professor at University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Preventive Medicine and the principal investigator of the study titled “Association of Percent Body Fat with Executive Function in 4 Year Olds”. Biography Dr. Melissa Alvarez Perez is a physical medicine rehabilitation specialist with a subspecialty in spinal cord injury medicine. She completed a bachelor degree in science with a certificate in nuclear medicine technology after which she worked for about a year as a nuclear medicine technologist. During this time she was able to work with physicians, nursing staff and in direct contact with patients which solidified her interest in the medical field.
