Dr. Bahareh Fazilat is a Board Certified Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and joined the FIU Health Faculty Group Practice in 2012. She is a Gynecology Surgeon specializing in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Robotics Surgery.

Dr. Fazilat brings tremendous experience and highly developed skills that provides multitude of benefits to her patients. Dr. Fazilat has held a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Clinical OB/GYN at the University of Miami where she was responsible for training fellows, residents and medical students. Dr. Fazilat is a contributing author writing a chapter for the book “State of the Art of Laparoscopic Suturing.”

Dr. Sireesha Chinthala is currently working as a Research specialist for department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Chicago. Her last position was postdoctoral research fellow at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Center for Infertility and Reproductive Surgery, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston. She holds a Medical degree M.B.B.S from Kakatiya University (India 1989) and MD degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from NTR University of Health Sciences (India 1997).She started her independent practice in 1998 (India) practicing routine, high risk, and emergency gynecological and obstetric care,including ultrasonography scans, neonatal care for newborns. Peter trained at Cambridge University under the supervision of the co-inventor of IVF and Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Bob Edwards FRS. His PhD was in stem cell technology. His post-doctoral position was as a Senior Embryologist at Bourn Hall Clinic which was the first IVF clinic in the world. Peter has been the Scientific Director of Cells for Life in Toronto and Smart Cells in the UK and was HTA Designated Individual for Smart Cells. After graduating Ohio State University College of Medicine, Herman completed Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. Dr. Manoj is currently working as a fellow at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center in the group of Prof(s). Januario E. Castro/ Thomas J. Kipps since Jan 2012. He received Ph.D. under the mentorship of Prof. Akhilesh Pandey (Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore/Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore) and Professor Riaz Mahmood (Kuvempu University, Shimoga, Karnataka, India). Dr. Manoj is also an adjunct professor at the School of Biotechnology, Shoolini University, Solan (HP), India since March 2015. During his stay at Hopkins, he learned cutting edge technology e.g. microarray, mass spectrometry and cancer signaling in the Pandey Lab. During his PhD, Dr. Manoj studied the molecular mechanism of tumorigenesis in esophageal cancers using DNA microarrays and quantitative proteomics using mass spectrometry. Currently, he is involved in finding the molecular mechanism of spliceosome machinery by targeting spliceosome using splicing inhibitors in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

From 1995, Prof. Kuang devoted himself in the developing assisted reproductive technology in China. In 1997, he worked as a fellow in University of Adlaide in Australia. In 2003, Prof. Kuang founded Assisted Reproductive Department in Shanghai Ninth hospital and successfully established a unique system of assisted reproductive technology. He soon granted the vice chairman of China Medical Association Shanghai reproductive department and committee member Shanghai East West Reproductive Medical Society for his hard work andwas regarded as pioneer and first generation of reproductive technology specialist for his original work in mild ovarian stimulation. Also, Prof. Kuang is the first specialist in China to adopt “Frozen-all Embryo strategy” and makes a great contribution in the modification of vitrification freezing. Pro. Kuang came up with  novel ovarian stimulation protocols, such as luteal phase ovarian stimulation, double stimulation and ovarian stimulation in high progesterone milieu, which improves the efficiency of ovarian stimulation, especially for patients with low or diminished ovarian reserve. This study was published in Fertility and Sterility and was reported in the “F1000” system and obtained high reputation in the peer review.  “This will be the new treatment paradigm for infertility for the next 20 years until stem cells will take over.” quoted a specialist of IVF worldwide blog. His double stimulant protocol is referred to as “Shanghai protocol” by peers. His inventions including modification of slapingosonography and Tubal blockage intervention, designing the first embryo cultivator, inventing a novel vitrification frozen reagent which was manufactured by ORIGIO company and simplifying a non-PIEZO relied ICSI procedural.

Prof. Kuang is dedicated in implementing “Safe, Efficient and Economical” IVF for decades. He established specific system of IVF treatments targeted at infertile women with advanced age, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and low ovarian responders. Prof. Kuang is regarded as a pioneer and pathfinder in China ART field.

Dr. Halaby is a Professor and Cancer Scientist who studies breast cancer. Breast cancer is the deadliest malignancy in women globally. However it also kills men, the transgendered, and people from all racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. His current research focus involves investigating lysosomal-induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells by triptolide (Thunder God Vine). This Chinese herb has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for centuries to treat anti-inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Dr. Halaby and his team showed that minute concentrations of triptolide, concentrations that are 1,000X less than conventional chemotherapy, induce cell death in treatment-resistant breast cancer cell lines. 

Dr. Halaby teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses: Biology of Cancer, Vertebrate Embryology, Advanced Cell Biology, Cell Physiology, Developmental Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Principles of Biology I. He was the first in the Biology Department to offer fully online biology courses, several of which include laboratory components.
