He received honorable fellow award from the Institute of Aquaculture (IFSA), Singapore. Currently, he is working as a Professor at Department Of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fishery Sciences, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences (WBUAFS). He is attached to the university since 1994 and gained extensive teaching experience in the field of aqua culture. He also worked as a Reader in State Agriculture University in Fisheries. He was a manager of Aquaculture and Biosciences at Robarra Pty Ltd involved with the management of fish health, aquaculture technology, including water recirculation technology and development of integrated aquaculture initiatives. | Biography Xuchen Wang is a Zhufeng Chair Professor in the Key Laboratory of Marine Chemistry Theory and Technology at Ocean University of China (OUC). Before joining OUC, Dr. Wang worked as a Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Environmental, Earth and Ocean Sciences at University of Massachusetts Boston from 1997 to 2013. Dr. Wang is a Marine Organic Geochemist. He received his B.S. in Marine Chemistry from Shandong College of Oceanology in China in 1981, and M.S. and Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in USA in 1989 and 1992. He has over 20 years research experience in marine and environmental organic geochemistry and biogeochemistry. Hehas been updated for the squat lobster taxonomy, biology upto 53 species were reported for the FIRST TIME in Indo-Pacific region and as well as Indian Ocean. I am assisted in the taxonomic description of a new species of cuttle-fish Sepia ramani andSepia prabahari for the first time from world waters.
Research Interest The aim is to provide taxonomical, biological, ecological and distributional data for all species described from deep-water (especially in marine invertebrate) chemosynthetic ecosystems, as well as information on specific samples and collections. I managed collections of marine invertebrates analyzed by our institute for biomedical properties and maintained associated databases. The transfer of knowledge from science to industry, regulators and the public is not always easy, and it has been recognised that more efforts are needed to encourage dialogue and for cutting edge blue skies research to be used to drive policy, legislation and best practice. She is working as Head of the Fish Platform at Champalimaud Foundation, Portugal supporting research in neuroscience and cancer using zebrafish as a model organism. She worked has a researcher at the Gulbenkian Institute, Portugal in the field of Developmental Ion Dynamics (2000 to 2010) and has also worked as an Assistant Professor in the University of Lisbon (2007 to 2008) and in the University of Madeira (2006). | Biography Charlotte Lucia Roehm completed her PhD in Biogeochemistry and Hydrology from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada and a BSc from the University of London, UK. Prior to joining NEON, Charlotte was an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York. She is currently holding position as Vice president in Shannon Water and Sanitation District, Boulder, CO from 05-2014 to present. She is also working as Assistant Director, Aquatics/STREON, Neon Inc, Boulder, CO (07-2013to present). During her Post Doc, Charlotte worked on several projects including: defining the sources and characteristics of ground ice in the NWT, Canada, as a proxy for Martian structures, and evaluating the impact of hydroelectric dam construction on the greenhouse gas budgets of Boreal landscapes. Much of Charlotte's work has focused on defining the impact of climate and land use change on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems by looking at terrestrial-aquatic linkages through carbon, nutrients and metabolic activities, and by elucidating the role of hydrology as a facilitator. She is environment and policy scientist at the One Health Institute U.California Davis, and a research associate with the Smithsonian Institution Natural History Museum. Dr. Brosnan is an expert on extreme events, hazards and climate change, especially on coastal and marine systems and communities, and on endangered species. He is working as the center director and professor at the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center and on the HCC campus in Plant City. Dr. Rechcigl’s studies the beneficial uses of organic wastes and industrial by-products as fertilizers for agricultural crops. In particular, his research focuses on evaluating the fertilizer requirements of pasture grasses as well as determining ways to reduce fertilizer runoff in to water ways. | Biography Dr. Daniel Rittschof, completed his Ph.D (1975) from the University of Michigan (Zoology). He completed his Bachelors and Masters from the same the university. His research focus is on ecology with emphasis on larval biology, chemical, behavioral, spatial ecology and environmental toxicology. Theoretical contributions are in the origins and evolution of chemical systems. Presently, there are three areas of focus: 1) Ecology and behavioral biology of local macroinvertebrates such as blue crabs and mud snails. 2) Barnacle models as they relate to fouling and the prevention of fouling and bioadhesives. 3) Impact of xenobiotics on behavior and reproduction. Daniel Rittschof and his students are funded in all three areas with grants to work on a variety of aspects of ecology and reproduction of blue crabs, grants to study families of barnacles with heritable biological adhesive phenotypes, to provide expertise in barnacle biology and living material for the Office of Naval Research Fouling Research program. He is continuing to participate in an antifouling program in Singapore which began in January 2000. | Biography Dr. Elena Stoica completed her PhD (2003) in Biology (Microbiology)at Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania and has more than fifteen years experience inthe field of marine environmental research. She is now a senior scientist and heads the Marine Molecular Biology Laboratory of the National Institute for Marine Research and Development, Constanta, Romania.Her previous positions are Postdoctoral Researcher at Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research NIOZ (2004), Postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Liverpool, UK (2007-2009) and ESF Visiting Scientist at Plymouth Marine Laboratory, UK (2009-2010). Her research approach is multidisciplinary, combining cell physiology, genetics, ecology and ocean biochemistry and applying state-of-the-art analytical techniques to study marine microbial processes. | Biography I would like to introduce myself Dr. Shib Sankar Sen; India did my B.Sc in Microbiology (Hons) and M.Sc in Biotechnology. After that I have been awarded Ph.D in Biochemistry (Pharmacy) from Jadavpur University, India. My thesis titled" Characterisation of ATPase and Pyrophosphatase activities in Leishmania donovani". We target pyrophosphatase as an excellent drug target in axenic amastigote in Leishmania donovani. We have been also studied on Trans-plasma membrane electron transport in promastigote as well as in amastigotes form of drug sensitive and drug resistant strains of Leishmania donovani. As post doctoral research I was working in Telethon Institute of child health research under University of Western Australia and working on "cell penetrating peptide as new antileishmanial drug therapy for cutaneous leishmaniasis (L. tropica)". Here we are working on cloning of Bir A gene (codon optimize in bacteria) in Leishmania tropica, Leishmania major and Leishmania donovani amastigote stages for screening of a possible cell penetrating peptide named phylomer using T7 and M13 phage library display and its characterization using FACS and confocal microscopy, sequencing, recombinant protein expression using Gateway vector, validation in mouse model for antileishmanial activity.

He is an author of several papers published in peer-reviewed journals from all over the World, he also authored and co-authored books, book chapters and participated in hundreds of international and national conferences, congresses and other scientific meetings. Presently an Aggregate Professor of several curricular units at the University of Azores with emphasis on Animal Behaviour, Marine ecology/Biology and technical CUs such as Diving and Navigation. He also lectures in other institutions mainly in Brazil. Main research topics are on amphi-Atlantic fish ecology, namely Macaronesia, Gulf of Guinea and Brazil. Other aquatic predators, especially within the Amazon basin. East Africa (Mozambique) and studying crocodilians (Caribbean, Africa, S America). Also studying conflicts between wild animals and humans. Present ongoing projects in Brazil (Amazon basin, S littoral coral reefs) and Africa (mostly the Island of São Tomé) and in the Azores (apex predatory fish, cetaceans and marine turtles). In 2014 he was appointed as member of the prestigious Portuguese Naval Academy. Also works in science illustration and is represented in several private and public collections. JPB is an experienced free diver and scuba diving instructor. | Biography Maulin P. Shah, currently Chief Scientist & Head – Industrial Waste Water Research Lab, Division of Applied and Environmental Microbiology Lab at Enviro Technology Ltd., Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India, received his Ph.D. (2002-2005) in Environmental Microbiology from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. He has served as an Assistant Professor at Godhra, Gujarat University in 2001. He is a Microbial Biotechnologist with diverse research interest. A group of research scholars is working under his guidance on the areas ranging from Applied Microbiology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioremediation, and Industrial Liquid Waste Management to solid state fermentation.
