Thomas Jefferson University, USA
| Biography Dr. Singh received her PhD (2013) from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India. During her Ph.D. work she investigated the mechanistic basis of insulator function by analyzing the epigenetically regulated complex insulator element present at the H19-ICR locus. This work led to the development of novel in vivo model and tools to understand complex genomic regulation by epigenetic mechanisms at antigen receptor loci. Soon after finishing PhD she joined as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Shalini Oberdoerffer, NCI/NIH her long-term goal is to understand mechanisms of developmental neurotoxicity occurring from exposures to environmental pollutants and develop intervention strategies that could potentially improve child developmental outcomes. This led her to the laboratory of Dr. Jay Schneider, Thomas Jefferson University, where she was able to apply her technical and theoretical expertise in epigenetics to gain insight into complex areas of biology and human health using animal models. Subsequently, she became a junior member of faculty at Thomas Jefferson University. Research Interest
