Journal of Rheumatology and Arthritic Diseases (JRAD) is an international, open access, peer-reviewed, scientific journal for publishing articles related to rheumatic & arthritic conditions.
The scope of JRAD covers etiology, pathophysiology, pain management, symptomatic treatment, physiotherapy, drug therapy, and preventive approaches. The articles submitted for publication may feature topics like osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, joint pains, sjorgen's syndrome, rheumatic heart disease etc. The aim of this journal is to capture the latest research & technological advancement in any field related to musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatic manifestations and other associated arthritic conditions.
Some Rheumatic diseases are inflammatory autoimmune conditions, where the immune cells of the body start attacking its own healthy cells. The immune system is confused and misreads signals; its ability to distinguish between the normal healthy cells and the invading pathogens/abnormal cells is disturbed. The immune system then starts attacking the joints, muscles, bones and organs. The etiology of the autoimmune disorders involves genetic factors (genetic marker HLA DRB1*04) and environmental stimuli (stress, exercise, diet, smoking, viral infection).
The pathophysiology of these diseases involves the pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1) and the immune modulators (T-cells and B-cells) resulting in synovial inflammation and extra-articular/systemic effects. The commonly presented extra-articular manifestations are rheumatoid nodules, vasculitis, pericarditis, uveitis etc. Systemic effects usually reported are acute-phase protein production, anaemia, cardiovascular disease, and fatigue.
