| Biography Dr. Huan-Tsung Chang is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is the author and co-author of more than 270 scientific papers. His group has prepared DNA functional gold nanoparticles for control of enzyme activity and for the detection of metal ions, proteins, and DNA. A number of fluorescent gold, silver and copper nanomaterials based sensing systems developed by his groups have been shown sensitive and selective for cell imaging and for the detection of various analytes, including anions, metal ions, proteins, and DNA. Carbon nanodots and fluorescent polymeric spheres have been synthesized and applied for cell imaging in his group, too. Interesting, they have demonstrated that carbon dots prepared from various precursors possess different optical properties and inhibit the growth of different cancer cells. In addition, he has developed nanoparticle based mass spectrometry techniques for the detection of polysaccharide, proteins, small analytes, and DNA. She has also worked as an invited researcher at the Institute from Environmental Technology, Graz University of Technology (Austria). Since January 2009, she holds a permanent position as an IKERBASQUE Research Professor at the Unit of Environmental Engineering of CEIT, where she is in charge of a new research line on Environmental Biotechnology. | Biography Salvatore Magazu is full professor in Experimental Physics at the Physics Department of Messina University (Italy), since December 2002. His research topics are manifold and, from some points of view, different, even if it emerges a common thread: the integrated employment of different spectroscopic techniques, such as light and neutron scattering, and synchrotron radiation spectroscopy addressed to investigate biophysical systems of academic and applicative interest. For the interdisciplinary character of his studies he has been awarded of research awards including, in 2000, the “Scientia Europea Prize” by the French Academy of Sciences. | Biography Vinoth Kumar received his Bachelor degree (BS) in Chemical Sciences from PSG College (2005), Bharathiyar University, and Master degree (MS) in Analytical Chemistry from Department of Analytical Chemistry (2007), University of Madras (State University), India. In 2011, he received his Doctorate (PhD) in Analytical Chemistry in Department of Chemistry, National Chung-Hsing University, Taiwan. His doctoral thesis studies focus on the developments of nanomaterials and its application to sample preparation techniques followed with chromatographic and mass spectrometric analysis. And then, he continued his academic career as a post-doctoral researcher in the same laboratory for two years (2011~13) to work under the projects on the developments of green analytical technologies and microextraction techniques for complex sample analysis. In late 2013, he started his industrial career in the Formosa Laboratories Inc., (a reputed API pharmaceutical company in Taiwan) to work as an analytical R&D department team supervisor-in-charge of the team responsible for completion of GLP Quality Control and Analytical R&D activities of polymer-based API drugs products. Later on, he moved to work as Technical Manager and Quality Assurance In-charge (2014~15) in Food Testing Laboratory, ChiMei Inspection Tech. Ltd., (Chimei Group, Taiwan), and responsible for lab analyzes of food and nutraceutical products samples ensuring compliance with ISO17025 and FDA.
