Biography
Dr. Danita Potter has been a trailblazer in nursing education with a career sparing over 16 years in higher education where she has held positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Sigma Theta Tau-Lambda Mu Chapter Faculty Advisor and Treasurer, Associate Dean, and presently, Director of Non-Traditional Nursing Programs at Northwestern State University College of Nursing in Shreveport, Louisiana. She has contributed to the body of science through scholarly presentations and publications while serving as a Minority Nurse Faculty Scholar and mentoring others to success. During here time at Grambling State University, she led the school to its self-study report, and site visits leading to continued accreditation for both the Masters and Bachelors programs. Nominated by her peers, Dr. Potter was selected as the recipient of the Sister Twohig Endowed Nursing Professorship at the University of Louisiana Monroe. During her time at ULM, she was the first African American Nursing Faculty to graduate from the Academy of Teaching Excellence. She was the first alumnus of Grambling State University to serve as the Chief Nursing Administrator (Associate Dean). During her spare time she serves on editorial boards, review boards for peer review nursing journals, serves as a Board of Trustee at a local hospital, contributes as a researcher at a local hospital, mentors and coaches junior faculty and doctoral students, and serves as an Advisory Board member with a local technical health-education program. Dr. Potter’s research for the last 15 years have focused on perceptions of nurse caring in rural health care and postpartum settings. Her research interests are Health disparities and education gaps among minorities including young mothers, families, and elderly continues to personally relevant today. |

Dr. Rose E. Constantino is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Department of Health and Community Systems. She teaches Forensic Nursing based on the content of a book she co-edited “Forensic Nursing: Evidence-based Principles and Practice published by F. A. Davis in 2013. Her pro bono family law practice representing clients in court is founded on her research on the consequences of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) on the health, safety and well-being of women, men and children worldwide. Her current research is in evaluating the effectiveness of Online and Mobile delivery of health interventions to survivors of IPV as a disruptive innovation (HELPP Zone app) in building healthy relationships. Dr. Lorna K.P. Suen is currently an Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. She received both her degrees in Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Public Health in the University of Sydney, Australia, while she obtained her PhD in Nursing from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has acquired a Diploma in Clinical Acupuncture in 2003 and a Certificate in Auriculotherapy issued by the Auriculotherapy Certificate Institute (ACI) of USA in 2004. She has extensive experience in conducting randomized controlled trials using magnetic pellets for auriculotherapy in the clinical treatment of insomnia in the elderly, low back pain, constipation, and uncontrolled hypertension, and haspublished more than70scientific articles over the years. She is also interested in investigating the predictive value of auricular diagnosis, and has completed several projects on identifying the relationship between the auricular reflective points and coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus, lower urinary tract syndrome in recent years. Dr. Neva Crogan is a Professor of Nursing at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Dr. Crogan received her BSN from the University of the State of New York in 1983, a Master’s in Nursing from Eastern Washington University in 1992 and a Ph.D from Washington State University in 1998. Her post-doctorate education includes a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate in 2007 from the University of Virginia. She was the recipient of the 2011 Western Institute of Nursing – John Harford Geriatric Research Award for a senior researcher, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and was the co-recipient of the 2013 Sigma Theta Tau International Research Utilization Award. She has published more than 60 data-based research articles and has spoken at multiple regional, national and international conferences. Dr. Crogan first worked as a nurse educator training nursing home staff in the care of older adults; then as a Washington State nursing home inspector ensuring quality care and compliance with state and federal regulations, and finally as a Nurse Consultant for a large number of skilled nursing facilities. Dr. Alberto Lazzero is Professor (NHS lecturer) of Emergency Medicine at the University of Turin, School of Nursing, Italy. He studied Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine,University of Turin, Italy with honours (1993) working with Endocrine Research Laboratory,McGill University Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He received his specialization in Endocrinology andMetabolism at the University of Turin (1998) with honours. Dr. Lazzero got a Master of Sciences in Cronobiologia at the University of Milan (1993) with honours and a University Diploma in Chronobiologie at the Faculté de Médecine, Université Paris VI (Pitié Salpêtrière) France (1993).For his research in the endocrinology of the critical illness, he approached the Intensive and Emergency Medicine, field in which is now primarily committed. Dr. Lauren R. Goodloe is currently the Nursing Director for the departments of Medicine and Geriatric Services and Nursing Research at the Virginia Commomwealth University Health System where she provides clinical and administrative leadership. Dr. Goodloe also holds the position of Assistant Dean for Clinical Operations and Associate Professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing. As the Assistant Dean for Clinical Operations at the VCU School of Nursing Dr. Goodloe provides coordination of clinical teaching, facilitation of the education and development of students at the VCU Health System, facilitation of joint program development and implementation between the VCU School of Nursing and the VCU Health System and facilitates collaborative practice between education and service. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in management and leadership, professional issues and health systems. Dr. Goodloe earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Administration from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing in 2000. She has 34 years of nursing experience as a clinician, manager, administrator and educator. Prof. Dr. Dimitri Beeckman has a nursing background and obtained his Master’s in Nursing Science and Midwifery in 2006 followed by an Academic Teacher Certificate in Social Health Sciences in 2007 at Ghent University, Belgium. In 2011 he obtained his phd in Social Health Sciences (Medical Social Sciences) with a thesis about pressure ulcer prevention and management of Incontinence- Associated Dermatitis (IAD). In 2010, he became a lecturer at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery at King’s College London, UK. In 2013, he was appointed as Professor in Nursing Science at the University Centre of Nursing & Midwifery at Ghent University, Belgium. He is specialized in the development and psychometric evaluation of instruments to measure outcomes of nursing interventions and in testing complex interventions in care. He was appointed as advisor of the Belgian Federal Counsel for the Quality of Nursing Activities during the development of indicators for measuring the quality of nursing care. He is currently lead investigator of several projects related to undernutrition in an elderly population (acute care and long- term care). He is Consulting Editor of the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing as well as Associate Editor of BMC Geriatrics. Liz Seabrook has 26 years of professional nursing experience, with 14 years as a professor in the Collaborative bscn program at Lambton College in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. On a daily basis, she is responsible for teaching medical-surgical nursing, health assessment, and clinical skills labs as well as teaching and supervising clinical groups, counseling and guiding students, and simulation champion for the program at Lambton. She has clinical interests in advanced wound care, pain management strategies, gerontological nursing, complex medical conditions and health and safety issues. Dirk Nelson, Ph.D. currently the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at West Texas A&M University, received a baccalaureate degree from Montana State University (he is a member of Montana State’s Society of Centennial Alumni), and two graduate degrees from the University of Kansas. He has been in higher education since 1989 and has held multiple administrative appointments for more than 20 years. Dr. Long is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Lamar University. In addition to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, she maintains an active gerontological nurse practitioner practice at local long term care facilities. She is currently serving as the Program Champion for a Music and Memory project at a local facility and is active in the states campaign to reduce the use of antipsychotics in long term care. Her interests include pharmacology, assessment, pathophysiology and geriatrics. She has over 28 years of experience as a clinician and educator.
